If the English and Dutch texts differ, the Dutch text applies.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit my website. I use cookies and local storage to make the website and the Tool work. For my usage statistics I use a service that does not place cookies. See chapter 2.
2. Which cookies I use
Functional cookies (always active, no consent needed)
These cookies are needed to make the website and the Tool work.
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Local storage (localStorage), Tool: login session | Keeps you logged in after you have clicked the link in your email (the session of my login service Supabase). The Tool does not set cookies | Until you log out or delete your browser data |
| Local storage (localStorage), Tool: settings | Five settings: ep.opslag.nulveldmelding.gezien, ep.opslag.opslagmelding.weggeklikt and ep.opslag.rondleiding.tabs remember what you have already seen or dismissed; ep.opslag.taal remembers your language; ep.opslag.foutregels stores the codes of at most ten messages that something went wrong, with time and version, so that you can pass them on. Your scenario and your Input are not stored here | Until you delete your browser data |
| Local storage (localStorage), website | va-optout, and only if you have switched off the usage statistics for your own browser | Until you delete your browser data |
| Local storage (localStorage), website | ep_cookies: remembers your choice in the cookie banner | Until you delete your browser data |
| Local storage (localStorage), website | epplan6: the answers you fill in in the guide Je plan afmaken (Finish your plan), so that you can continue later. You delete them with the button in the guide | Until you delete them or delete your browser data |
Partner tag (without consent)
If you arrive through a partner's link (an address with ?ref=), the website remembers the name of that partner. If you then click an order button, that name goes along to the Stripe payment page, so that the purchase can be attributed to the partner. I do not ask for consent for this.
| Storage | What is in it | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Local storage (localStorage), website: ep_ref | The partner tag from the link and the moment you arrived. No other data: not your name, not your email address, not what you view | 30 days; after that the website deletes it at your next visit |
| Session storage (sessionStorage), website: ep_ref | The same partner tag, without a timestamp | Until you close the tab |
If you do not arrive through a partner link, nothing is stored.
Statistics without cookies (no consent needed)
I measure how the website is used with Vercel Web Analytics. That service does not place cookies and does not read anything from your device. No identifier is stored either that could be used to follow you across several websites or over a longer period.
With every page visit this data is recorded:
| Data | Example |
|---|---|
| Time | 13 August 2026, 09:06 |
| Page | /beslisgids/het-aow-gat/ |
| Referring site | linkedin.com |
| Country and region | Netherlands |
| Operating system and browser | iOS 18, Safari |
| Type of device | Mobile, desktop or tablet |
From the incoming request Vercel makes an encrypted code to tell separate visits apart. That code is not stored on your device and expires automatically after 24 hours. I only see totals, never an individual visitor.
Because nothing is placed on or read from your device, no consent is required for this. I base this processing on my legitimate interest in knowing which topics are read (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Services the website loads without cookies
On the homepage your browser fetches the published reviews from Supabase. That service then sees your IP address; nothing is placed on your device.
Marketing cookies (only with consent)
I use the Meta pixel. With it I can see whether someone came to my site through an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram and what that person does next. Without that measurement I do not know which advertisement works.
The pixel is only loaded after you have clicked Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Decline, or you click nothing, the pixel is not loaded and Meta reads nothing from your device. The website only reads your own choice (ep_cookies).
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Recognises your browser, so that a visit and a later purchase can be linked | 90 days |
| _fbc | Stores the ad click that brought you here. Only placed if you arrive through an ad link | 90 days |
I tell Meta that a page was viewed, that a sign-up form was sent and that an order button was clicked. I do not send names, email addresses or filled-in scenarios along. On Meta's side, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited is the controller.
I base this processing on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
3. Withdrawing consent
The cookie banner appears at your first visit. In it, Accept and Decline sit side by side, the same size. As long as you choose nothing, I place nothing.
You can change your choice at any time. Click Cookie preferences at the bottom of the pages of the website, and the banner comes back so you can choose again. If you withdraw your consent, the pixel is no longer loaded at your next visit. Cookies that have already been placed, you delete through your browser settings.
You can always delete functional cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Keep in mind that you will then be logged out. You do not lose your scenarios by doing so: the Tool does not store them in your browser. What you want to keep, you export to a file yourself.
4. Transfers outside the EEA
Vercel Inc. is based in the United States. The statistics processed through Vercel Web Analytics contain no data that could identify you. Insofar as there is a transfer, it takes place on the basis of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Meta Platforms Ireland Limited is based in Ireland. Insofar as Meta passes data on to the United States, this takes place on the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
5. Changes
I may change this cookie statement when I add or remove cookies. The current version is always on this page.
